>< Objective: At the end of the course, the
student will acquire knowledge and understanding of the form and structure of
angiosperms, the development of classification systems and plant nomenclature.
>< Course content:
Morphology of the plant body: the
mature embryo and seed, stem, leaf, flower and fruit. Vegetative reproduction.
Cell types, cell as a biological unit of molecular organization,
cell wall, structure and function of cell organelles, endosymbiosis, cell division.
Tissues and their distribution in primary and secondary plant body. Anomalous
growth.
Development of classification systems and the
necessity of hierarchical system, Cronquist’s system of classification,
subclasses, families. Modern trends in plant classification: sources of taxonomic
information, numerical taxonomy. Identification: identification keys. Herbarium:
preparation and maintenance. Plant nomenclature.
