>< Objective: By the end of the course the
student will be able to demonstrate substantive knowledge and skills in modern
horticultural and landscaping practices.
>< Course content:
Horticulture industry, horticulture production,
plant establishment, irrigation practices, fertilizer applications, transplanting
techniques, vegetative and in vitro propagation, landscape maintenance, diagnosing
and treating plant disorders/ diseases. Growing plants indoors: potting media
and fertilizers, light and watering of plants. Plant production in green houses:
conventional green houses, other climate-controlled structures, hydroponic cultivation.
Cultivation of vegetables, flowers and mushroom. Conventional breeding for plant
improvement.

tutorials, practical assignments, field visits and audio visual presentations
>< Scheme of evaluation: End of course written
and practical examination and reports on field visits
