Title : Management Theory and Practice

Objectives : On successful completion of this course students will be able to recapitulate the evolution of philosophy, principles and practice of management, and look at management as a social and human development process

Course Content :

Origin and evolution of management thoughts in the west, western socio economic imperatives for the evolution of thoughts on management, transfer of management thoughts and practices to the rest of world and its impact on society and economic activity, human and social aspects of management – reflections from philosophies and religions, organization, its environment, culture, behavior, and change, vision, mission, goals and objectives of the organization, reflections on leadership and leadership development, fundamental activities of a manager – envisioning, goal setting, planning, organizational design, setting strategic paths, human development, and leading, recent significant global developments and their impact on organizations, their environment, and management, globalization, global recession, shifting growth centres, regional integrations, strategic alliances, and product standardization.

>< Methodology : The course will be delivered in a combination of lectures and interactive sessions.
