the student will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of diversity
and evolution of plants.
>< Course content:
Origin of life. Biological classification and
evolutionary relationships. Prokaryotes: archaebacteria, eubacteria, prokaryotes
in their environments. Origin of the eukaryotic cell, fungi and their associations,
algae, nonvascular plants (bryophytes), seedless vascular plants (pteridophytes),
seed plants (gymnosperms and angiosperms). Plants as pioneers of the terrestrial
environment.
