>< Title : Computer
Project
>< Type/Status : Core Course
>< Teaching and learning objectives:
The objective is to provide an opportunity to develop
a computer package for a selected problem domain utilizing concepts of Systems
Analysis and Design giving due recognition to MIS needs of the organization
concerned. Also, to give students a hands-on experience in all aspects of information
system development with exposure to business problem analysis and problem solving.
This provides students with the opportunity to relate the academic content of
the course of study to a practical application. Further, this provides opportunity
to plan a complex piece of work, select and apply appropriate methodology, develop,
implement, evaluate results and present in written report form as well as orally.
On successful completion of the course students will be able to describe and
explain the application of management and Information Technology theories and
concepts to real world problems, and difficulties and associated problems in
applying them.
>< Course Content:
Students must propose project topics
of their own devising, subject to the approval of suitability. Suitable topics
could be proposed from the area or problems that they experienced during their
Industrial Training (IMMG 22072). Projects will normally aim at the creation
of a specific end product and will involve substantial practical work.
>< Methodology:
Project starts with the submission of a project proposal
by the student. Once approved, the student in consultation with the supervisor
carries out a formal System Study, Design, and Development work. Three oral
project presentations will be held during the academic year for project assessment
and monitoring. Students submit a comprehensive report at the end of the project.
Project presentation and final reports will be assessed by the supervisor together
with a panel from the teaching staff.
>< Scheme of Evaluation: A minimum of two
presentations and submission of a comprehensive project report.
