>< Teaching and learning objectives:
The objective of this subject is to provide an understanding
of the basic financial concepts that any corporate manager should be aware to
operate successfully in the market place. Course introduces the basic principles
of present value and discounted cash flow. Further, it discusses the financial
planning and illustrates the interrelatedness of the various investments and
financing decisions a firm makes.
On successful completion of this course, students will be able to prepare a
financial plan for a less complex organization
>< Course Content:
The areas covered include overview
of corporate finance, working with Financial statements, long term financial
planning and growth, Time value of money, valuation of stocks and bonds, Capital
budgeting, Net Present Value and other investment criteria, making capital investment
decisions, understanding risk and return and short term financial planning and
management.
>< Methodology:
The course will be delivered in a combination of lectures,
interactive sessions and tutorials.
>< Scheme of Evaluation:
End-of-semester examination and continuous evaluation.
