MBBT 41034
>< Type/Status : Compulsory
>< Course title : Molecular Plant Pathology
>< Objective: At the end of the course, the
student will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the molecular
basis of plant-pathogen interactions and apply this knowledge in disease management.
>< Course content:
Pathogenesis related proteins. Constitutive
and induced plant defenses against pathogens. Fungal evasion of host defense
mechanisms. Evaluation of plant pathogens in complex ecosystems. Viral diseases.
Wilt diseases. Use of DNA-based techniques for identifying plant pathogens.
Determinants of microbial pathogenicity . Implementation of elicitor mediated
induced resistance in agriculture.
>< Methodology: Lectures,
tutorials and practical assignments
>< Scheme of evaluation: End of course examination
